This and the next few shots are of Emerald Bay. We’re on the highway, which at this point is a slender strip of road at the top of a mountain with steeply sloping drop-offs on both sides. One side slopes down to Emerald Bay and the other slopes down to Cascade Lake. There’s no barrier on either side of the road, and the road is a 2-lane road.
How in heck did they build such a road? And why? Why not snake up one side and down the other.
People on bikes actually traverse this road. Brrrr.
